As a business, it’s important to find the right packaging options for your products. In order to do so, there are many things to consider. While cost can be a primary consideration when it comes to the packaging of a product, environmental sustainability should be a top priority – bottom line. One of the latest trends is to opt for using eco-friendly packaging materials such as the sustainable solutions and eco-friendly products offered Moor Spa.

At Moor Spa, we are pleased to offer our customers a wider variety of sustainable packaging with our products. Not only do we provide 100% naturally derived products that are free of free of synthetic preservatives, parabens, sulfates, artificial colors and fragrances, and petroleum-derived chemicals such as PEG, propylene glycol or mineral oil, but we also pride ourselves on being the first in the spa industry to convert to biodegradable d2w packaging.

It’s clear that choosing to use sustainable d2w packaging provides many environmental benefits including:

1. Reduced Carbon Footprint

A clear benefit of sustainable packaging is reduced carbon footprint. Eco-friendly packaging at Moor Spa is made from a substance called d2w. This causes the treated plastic to become fully biodegradable in the presence of oxygen after the natural shelf life of the product has expired. Rather than taking over 500 years to decompose, the packaging biodegrades in as little as six months both on land and in the ocean.

Plastic proliferation, on the other hand, has become one of the most intractable problems facing mankind. From the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Dump’ to the ubiquitous presence of microplastics across the planet and even in human tissue, this is a problem that cries out for immediate action. Relying on recycling is no longer an option as only 10% of recyclable plastic is ultimately recycled.

Plastic packaging is the single, largest contributor to this problem, It takes between 500 and 1,000 years for HDPE plastic (the type most commonly used in the spa/wellness/ beauty industry) to decompose. It’s estimated that between 10,000 and 100,000 tonnes of plastic has been dumped into the world’s oceans as a result of mismanagement of waste disposal.

2. 100% Natural & Non-Toxic Material

We have seen more and more people become concerned with what products (and the materials they are packaged with) are made out of and the harm they can potentially have on their health and well-being. Not only is Moor Spa’s d2w packaging better for the environment, but the company’s 100% naturally derived, non-toxic products are also better for the safety and health of consumers.

3. Easily Reused or Recycled

Part of what makes Moor Spa’s d2w packaging eco-friendly is its ability to be reused or recycled. And, the nature of the additive allows the very best available plastic technologies to be used to achieve minimization of raw-material usage. During its service-life, d2w can be used and reused, all while maintaining its durability and strength.

While recycled plastics are okay, they are not degradable. In other words, they will still lie around in the environment for decades. However, both ordinary plastic and recycled plastic can become biodegradable using d2w additive, allowing them to become easily reused or recycled.

Helping The Planet

In today’s world, the planet needs our help. In response to the need of the time, Moor Spa is the first company in the spa industry to convert to biodegradable packaging.
